A shoot board is very important for a shoot as it organises the order of shots depending on the set up. This saves time as we shoot all the shots required for a particular set up at once. Shoot boards also make it easy for an Actor to figure out what they are required to do in any particular shot as they are given a visual representation of what is required of them as it is easier if they are shown rather than told.
